A Visual Approach to the Guitar. The Collection 1992–2023 brings together a carefully curated selection of works from a photographic project initiated in 1992 by the Córdoba Guitar Festival. Over the course of seven editions, leading national and international photographers have been invited to offer a free and personal interpretation of the guitar, resulting in a collection considered unique in the world for its exclusive focus on this instrument. The exhibition spans more than three decades of visual creation in which photography and music engage in dialogue through light, emotion, and artistic experimentation, highlighting an important heritage preserved in the Municipal Archive of Córdoba.

Among the participating artists is José María Mellado, one of the leading figures in contemporary Spanish photography, renowned for his mastery of digital imaging and landscape photography. In the 2023 edition, he presented a series of realistic photographs focused on two historic guitars from Almería, La Gerundina and La Invencible, approaching the instrument from a documentary and aesthetic perspective that engages with the tradition and excellence of Spanish guitar making. His inclusion broadens the scope of a collection that brings together some of the most significant perspectives in contemporary photography.

The exhibition opened on June 25, 2026, at 12:00 noon, as part of the supporting program of the 45th Córdoba Guitar Festival.

 

At the opening, attendees included Julio Álvarez Yagüe, Marisa Vadillo, José Carlos Nievas, José Lara, and Manuel Ángel Jiménez. In the center was Isabel Albás, Delegate for Culture of the Córdoba City Council.

The exhibition can be visited until July 19, 2026.
