Meetings. A multiplicity of views on contemporary photography

“Encounters. A multiplicity of views on contemporary photography”, hosts one of the works of José María Mellado.

The Alcobendas Art Center presents, from February 17 to May 14, the photographic exhibition “Encuentros. A multiplicity of views on contemporary photography”, curated by María de Corral López-Dóriga and Lorena Martínez de Corral. The exhibition brings together works belonging to the Alcobendas Photography Collection and a selection of pieces from the collections of the Association of Private Collectors of Contemporary Art, 9915, with a breadth of views that covers the last hundred years of photography, from different creative environments.

Among this group made up of more than thirty artists, you can find the photograph of José María Mellado “Lago y pato”, from 2006, belonging to the Alcobendas Photography Collection. This piece establishes a dialogue with the different formal and visual arguments raised by the exhibition and constitutes a prime example of digital photographic practice and landscape photography.

In the words of the curators of the exhibition: “we have been involved in showing the formal characteristics, artistic expressions and aesthetic concerns of today’s photographers. We also wanted to convey the open spirit of the creative flow that characterizes our time. The exhibition Encuentros seeks to get visitors involved by identifying similarities, comparing and interpreting images from both collections, and to enjoy the coexistence of trends and heterogeneous languages typical of the second half of the twentieth century and the first two decades of the twenty-first century.”
