Coincidences: Dialogues between painting, sculpture and photography in the Alcobendas Collection and the 9915 collections
Last April it was possible to enjoy the exhibition “COINCIDENCES. Dialogues between painting, sculpture and photography in the 9915 Collections and the Alcobendas Photography Collection.»
The exhibition brought together about thirty photographs from the Alcobendas Photography Collection and as many works of painting and sculpture from the funds of 9915, the Association of Private Collectors of Contemporary Art, and from which it is sought that the visitor finds coincidences between them, establishing a relationship of analogies and contrasts between the pieces of both collections that this time coexist in the same exhibition space, through a thematic and stylistic variety. Thus, works by Spanish creators coexist with international voices that address issues of our most immediate current affairs and allow us to reflect on what happens around us from a precise, poetic and risky perspective.
In the words of the curators María de Corral and Lorena Martínez de Corral “selecting the works for this exhibition has forced us to take sides, accept the risks involved in trying to show a particular vision and offer it to the public to be interpreted. It is an incessant writing, reading and rereading of a history of diverse proposals, both in their languages and in their contents, linked to their protagonists, in this case photography, painting and sculpture.”
‘Mountain and River’ (2004), is the photograph of José María Mellado that was part of the exhibition.
