The Trace of Time: Landscape and Emotion

In May 2017, within the framework of the San Isidro festivities in Alcobendas, the exhibition “The Trace of Time: Landscape and Emotion” was inaugurated on Salvador Allende Boulevard. This exhibition showcased the work of the renowned photographer José María Mellado, an artist with a well-established career in landscape photography and in experimenting with light and composition. The opening took place on May 16, 2017, marking the beginning of an open-air exhibition that allowed citizens to enjoy art in an urban environment accessible to everyone.
The exhibition presented a selection of Mellado’s most representative images, printed in large format, creating a dialogue between public space and the viewer. The choice of Salvador Allende Boulevard as the setting was no coincidence: this space became a visual journey where passersby could stop, observe, and allow themselves to be immersed in the aesthetics of landscapes and compositions that reflect the photographer’s unique style, characterized by technical precision and artistic sensitivity.
The exhibition was part of Alcobendas’ summer cultural program and remained open to the public for several months. This extended period allowed a wide audience to engage with Mellado’s work, turning the exhibition into a cultural landmark in the city during that season.
“The Trace of Time: Landscape and Emotion” stood out for its ability to combine technical rigor with visual emotion, inviting viewers on a journey that goes beyond the purely visual to become a sensory experience. The exhibition offered a close encounter with contemporary art, bringing photography closer to all citizens and reinforcing Alcobendas’ commitment to bringing culture into open and accessible spaces.
This exhibition represents not only an important moment in José María Mellado’s career, but also an example of how large-format photography can be integrated into the urban environment, transforming everyday spaces into settings for artistic contemplation and reflection.
