EXHIBITION 50 FOTOGRAFÍAS CON HISTORIA. ROAMING IN CÁDIZ
The exhibition 50 Photographs with History arrives in Cádiz as part of its itinerancy and will be available until January 26, 2025. Curated by José María Díaz-Maroto and Gonzalo Revidiego, the exhibition offers a visual, historical and symbolic journey through 80 years of the history of photography in Spain. In it you will find photographs by great authors such as Francesc Català Roca, Joana Biarnés, Chema Madoz, José María Mellado, Cristina García Rodero, Joan Fontcuberta, Gabriel Cualladó, Isabel Muñoz, Ramón Masats, and many others, who have been references in the discipline. Some of these photographers, such as Agustí Centelles and Francesc Català Roca, have been awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts, while others such as Cristina García Rodero and Joan Colom have been recognised with the National Photography Prize.
The exhibition, recently opened, represents a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of Spain through the lenses of these photographers. The exhibition covers from the first moments of the Civil War to the contemporary, through the post-war period and the transition, with images that have witnessed the social and political transformations of the country. 50 Photographs with History continues to be a key platform to make Spanish photography visible and vindicate, bringing the public closer to a fundamental part of the country’s historical memory. In a privileged environment, the images invite us to reflect on the context in which they were taken, making this exhibition an essential trip for those who want to know the evolution of photography in Spain.
